Apricot tree is a plant of the Rosaceae family. It originates from Asia and grows naturally mainly in China, Kyrgyzstan and Korea. It is now also cultivated in North America and Europe, including in Poland.

Apricot fruits are large spherical, slightly flattened stone fruits, with a skin that usually takes on an orange colour. Apricots have many health benefits.

First of all, they favourably affect the function of the digestive system and kidneys. They lower blood pressure as well as help to remove “bad” cholesterol from the blood. Moreover, apricots have a strengthening effect on the body and prevent colds. In the kitchen, they can be used in many ways. They are perfect for jams and preserves, as well as as a filling for dumplings or potato dumplings. They can also be used to make alcoholic beverages such as liqueurs. They are also suitable for current consumption, of course.

When growing apricots, it should be remembered that they grow best in warm, bright, sunny places with fertile, moderately moist and rapidly warming soil. It should also be added that apricot trees are sensitive to prolonged rainfall as well as to frosts.

The most popular apricot varieties are: Early Orange, Darina, Harcot, Heja, Orangered, Pietropawłowskij and Somo.
