An apple tree is a perennial plant belonging to the Rosaceae family. It occurs mostly in temperate climates. In Poland, it is readily used as a cultivated plant. In total, approximately 25 species are known.

The fruit of an apple tree is commonly called an apple. It is spherical in shape, while its colour is usually green, yellow or red. Depending on the species, the fruits vary in taste, appearance, sweetness or aroma. The hardness of the fruit depends on the variety as well as the stage of maturity.

An apple tree is one of the most popular fruit trees in Poland. The most often grown varieties are those with a sweet, sweet and sour, or sour taste. Fruits that are harvested in October are ideal for winter storage, while those harvested earlier are perfect for current consumption. Apple trees grow best on clay soils of average fertility. These trees are best planted in autumn or early spring.

The most popular apple tree species are: Fantazja, Grey and Golden Reinette, Kosztela, Antonovka, Gravenstein, Florina, Idared, Alwa, Gloster, Topaz, Ligol, Golden Delicious, Rubinola and Lobo.
